Many Rolex enthusiasts and Collector's have a few core watches that they wish to own. One of these is the Rolex British Military Submariner -Model # 5513/5517.

. These watches have become one of the most faked collectable Rolexes at this time and even starting to fool the major auction houses.

I was therefore slightly cautious when one day this British Military Submariner came into my possession. It was well worn, covered in dirt but otherwise look like a correct piece. As you will see from the photos below, the lugs were fixed, correct military inscription, dial marked with a capital ‘T’ to indicate tritium, serial number on the inside of the case back and the general condition that did not indicate a freshly painted and fitted fake

Correct fixed lugs

Military Inscription showing the watch to be issued in 1973

So, I went about cleaning the watch up and generally improving it cosmetically (above). But as I got talking to other enthusiasts across the world, something did not check out so I contacted Rolex UK and asked for their assiatance............................

THIS WAY FOR THE BAD NEWS.......
